First, you have to make that crap story into a mathematic model.

Let's say
x = sum of sweets

So we'll have this model

6x = y + 4 ........ (2)

Subtitute (1) to (2)

6x - y = 4
6x - (4x + 8) = 4
6x - 4x - 8 = 4
2x = 4 + 8
x = 12 ÷ 2
x = 6

4x + 8 = y
4(6) + 8 = y
24 + 8 = y
y = 32

So final answers

a. Bitches&Jerks (Friends) = 32
b. The sweets = 6
